Last week I was shared the opportunity to mentor a high school student interested in event planning. She attends one of the local high schools, as a class project she has to plan and coordinate an event, interview someone already in the career field, and report everything she learned.
As a member of the JROTC program she has chosen to coordinate a “Wreaths Across America” event at the Scenic Memorial Garden’s Cemetery for deceased veterans. I jumped at the chance to assist! Not only would it have been wonderful to have an opportunity to work with an event planner during my high school years but I am a big support of the armed forces. I have several friends and a few family members that have (and currently still do) served in the military. It is a great sacrifice. They should always be honored.
It’s simple. A small gift of $15 honors a fallen hero by placing a wreath on his or her grave. This great impact says we will always remember our heroes, honor their sacrifice and teach future generations the price of our freedom.
The event will be December 12th, 2015 at noon. To learn more or to support such a heartwarming cause, please check out the Wreaths Across America website.
