Donate Your Wedding Dress

Success, you are happily married to the person of your dreams! Now what to do with that amazing looking dress you spent hours searching for?
Re-selling or donating it are possible options. As well as preserving it in one of those boxes dress shops offer. However, what if there was a more meaningful way to give your wedding dress new life?
For a sentimental gift to be passed down to children or grandchildren, a wedding gown can become part of a quilt, or pillows filled with lavender. If you or have a seamstress in the family your dress can be given new life as a christening or baptism dress, or a Christmas tree skirt.
Here is a list of lovely organizations that accept wedding gowns and do wonderful things with them:

The Brides Project

Brides Project, a nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to raising funds for the programs of the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor through the sale of donated bridal gowns.
Angel Gowns

Angel Gowns, a group that uses donated wedding dresses to create gowns for infants who pass away.
New Dress A Day

New Dress a Day is a creative experiment that began a few years ago to recreate clothing pieces found in garage sales or thrift stores and giving them new life. It is such an inspiring thing to witness! If only I knew how to sew…
